Fascinated by the Unknown

There is a film called “Super Secret TBD” playing at SXSW this year. Needless to say, the “SXXpress” (South by Express) tickets, which allow badge holders to skip the line provided that they show up 30 minutes before the show, sold out of that first today.Having arrived a mere 22 minutes before SXXpress opened for the day, I did not get one of these special passes. I could have stuck around to grab a pass for Cannibal Girls, which was one of the shows that I really wanted to see, but it’s at the same time as the Super Secret unknown TBD film. This is the only time that Cannibal Girls is playing at this festival.

What is so intriguing about the desire to be in on the unknown that I’m willing to give up my shot to see a film I want to see?

Of course Cannibal Girls was released in 1973, and, knowing the Alamo Drafthouse, this will not be my last chance to see it ever.

Also, who was I kidding? 22 minutes before SXXpress opened? These are film devotees, and not just mere film enthusiasts. I’m surprised there were no tents. (Most likely because they close the Convention Center down each night.)

Maybe I should get a tent and camp out. Do you think they’d have a problem with me roasting marshmallows in the Austin Convention Center?
