{"id":3,"date":"2010-03-09T16:34:56","date_gmt":"2010-03-09T16:34:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.justmichelle.com\/?p=3"},"modified":"2010-03-09T14:32:52","modified_gmt":"2010-03-09T20:32:52","slug":"hello-world-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.justmichelle.com\/?p=3","title":{"rendered":"Hello World!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>printscreen(&#8220;Hello World!&#8221;);<\/p>\n<p>Yeah, that was no language in particular.\u00a0 I&#8217;m just happy it looks more like the languages I learned in CS and EE classes than the MIS classes.\u00a0 Because I&#8217;d still be typing if I tried to make that in COBOL.\u00a0 *shudder* COBOL.<\/p>\n<p>This is the New JustMichelle site.\u00a0 New interface, new posts, new everything.\u00a0 Well, same domain.\u00a0 I think I&#8217;m just going to scrap all of the Old JustMichelle, except the granola bars recipe.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t want to lose that.<\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">Mix and Match Chewy Granola Bars<\/span><\/h1>\n<h3><!--more--><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">Required Ingredients<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>4 c rolled-oats<br \/>\n3\/4 c butter<br \/>\n1\/2 c brown sugar<br \/>\n1\/2 c honey<br \/>\n1\/2 t vanilla<br \/>\n1\/2 t salt<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">Optional Ingredients<\/span>\u00a0<\/h3>\n<p>0-2 c dried fruit<br \/>\n0-1 c nuts<br \/>\n0-1\/2 c seeds<br \/>\n0-1\/2 t other extract or flavor<br \/>\n0-3 t spices<\/p>\n<p>Preheat oven to 350\u00b0 Line a 9&#215;13 baking dish with parchment paper.<\/p>\n<p>On a large sheet-pan spread out oats and any nuts, seeds and spices. Toast these at 350\u00b0 for 15 minutes stirring occassionally to avoid burning. At the same time, in a medium sauce pan or stove-top safe mixing bowl, melt butter together with brown sugar, honey, vanilla, other extracts and salt. Stir to avoid burning until butter is fully melted and sugar dissolves.<\/p>\n<p>Remove oats, et al, from oven and combine all ingredients in mixing bowl or sauce pan (if large enough). Stir until well combined. Turn out into prepared baking dish and press into sides making even and level. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool completely. Remove from pan and cut into bars. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">Mix-and-Match Ideas:<\/span><\/h3>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">Hawaiian:<\/span>\u00a0<\/h4>\n<p>1\/2 c dried pineappled, chopped; 1\/2 c dried unsweetened shredded coconut; 1\/2 c macademia nuts<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">Amaretto:<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>1 c dried cherries; 1 c almonds, chopped; 1\/2 t amaretto or 1\/4 t each cherry extract and almond extract<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">Apple Cinnamon:<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>1 c dried apple slices, chopped; 1 t cinnamon<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">Simply Spiced:<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>1 t cinnamon; 1 t ginger; 1 t cloves<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">Peanut Butter Chocolate<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Substitute 1\/4 c butter for 1\/2 c peanut butter.\u00a0 Add 1\/2 c chocolate chips just before stirring.\u00a0 They will melt in, don&#8217;t freak out.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">Important Info<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/h4>\n<p>Things that I discovered from making several batches:\u00a0 Dried Fruit tends to make the bars fall apart more.\u00a0 If you are trying to make a really tidy snack, don&#8217;t use dried fruit.\u00a0 If you don&#8217;t mind crumbly granola bars, dried fruit is tasty!<\/p>\n<p><!-- START of joscomment --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>printscreen(&#8220;Hello World!&#8221;); Yeah, that was no language in particular.\u00a0 I&#8217;m just happy it looks more like the languages I learned in CS and EE classes than the MIS classes.\u00a0 Because I&#8217;d still be typing if I tried to make that in COBOL.\u00a0 *shudder* COBOL.
